At Horizon, Moral Classes are our structured approach to Social-Emotional Learning (SEL). They are taught weekly and are rooted in character education, emotional intelligence, and global citizenship.
These sessions empower students with lifelong empathy, self-awareness, ethical reasoning, and conflict-resolution skills. Our curriculum draws on international SEL frameworks and is aligned with our core values: confidence, responsibility, resilience, innovation, and principled decision-making.
Each class is age-appropriate and interactive. Students explore topics through storytelling, role-play, guided discussions, and reflection journals. From understanding emotions and friendships in younger grades to managing peer pressure and ethical dilemmas in higher years, the curriculum evolves to meet students' developmental needs.
What sets Horizon apart is the consistent integration of these lessons across the school culture. Teachers reinforce SEL themes in the classroom, during homeroom, and in disciplinary conversations. This alignment ensures students internalize values as concepts and daily behaviors.
Moral Classes support academic achievement by improving emotional regulation, decision-making, and social relationships — essential skills for collaborative learning and resilience. In short, these classes help our students to "do well" and "do good." They are not just about character building, but also about enhancing academic performance.
